This study is to identify the general profiles of female veterinarians in economic life and to determine the status of their professional performances. A survey study was conducted with 65 women who are engaged in veterinary clinic management businesses. In the survey, it was determined that female veterinarians who performed clinic management businesses worked at an average of 9.89 hours on weekdays, and that 72% of them predominantly had pets in their clinics, and regarding that, pet clinic management was being carried out. In the interviews, it was determined that, the highest incomes in clinics were received from vaccination-drug revenues, examination-treatment, and operations; depending on the city that the clinic is located and whether there are pets or not. In the study conducted, it was determined that the average monthly incomes of the clinic enterprises belonging to female veterinarians were $ 2.055 and the average monthly profits were $ 968. As a result, it is thought that, female veterinarians’ participation in supplementary vocational training activities, and improving their managerial skills by focusing on customer satisfaction and advertising activities, will help to solve problems in the professional life.

It is found within one or several zones.The vegetation of the valleys of the river valleys, the wetland, the rock-mass plant, the water-coastal plant, the herb of the Gulf and various water basins, the plant of saline and ruminants are referred to the intrazonal plant.The intrazonal plant of the Small Caucasus consists of 390 species, 65 families and 172 gender.

The purpose of the present study was to compare antioxidative effects between so called eye-care nutrients in a rat model of high intraocular pressure induced retinal ischemic injury. A rat model of high intraocular pressure (HIOP)-induced acute retinal ischemia was established to assess and compare the antioxidative efficacy of different nutrients. Nutrients were administered daily to test rats for 56 days (28 days before and 28 days after the HIOP injury). Three groups of nutrient compounds were fed to test rats, namely group A (mixed lycium barbarum + grape seed extract+ lutein + bilberry and 14 other ingredients), group B (all ingredients of group A but removing lutein), and group C (all ingredients of group A but removing bilberry). The electroretinogram (ERG) of all groups were assessed on 1 day prior to HIOP injury and 7, 14, 21, 28 days post-ischemic injury. The antioxidant/peroxidant profile of plasma, red blood cells and retina was analyzed in the treated and control rats. The findings of this study suggest that group A and group C both possessed significantly better antioxidative activity and functional protective effect for the retina in the rat model of retinal ischemia injury, in comparison to group B. The results of this study shows that the antioxidative effects and protection of retinal function provided by lutein are much better than those provided by bilberry.

This study was carried out to determine the reaction of durable resistant Pi40 gene against rice blast races (Magnaporthe grisea) at different stage of plant under field conditions in Turkey and to transfer Pi40 gene to high yielding Kiziltan rice cultivar progenies between 2011 and 2015. Pi40 gene harbouring donor lines were introduced from International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). Pi40 harbouring material, local varieties and Kiziltan progenies obtained crossing with Kiziltan and Pi40 harbouring lines were used as materials in this study. The results of the experiment showed that Pi40 gene was field resistant to blast races in all experiment locations. Crosses were made between Kiziltan and Pi40 gene donor lines, and using CAPs marker specially designed for Pi40 gene, Pi40 gene transferred advanced lines were selected with (MAS) marker-assisted selection for selfing. As a result of this study high yielding blast resistant Pi40 gen transferred promising lines obtained and these lines were tested in blast nursery and yield trail in 2015.

Abstract: Background: Gingivitis is a frequent inflammatory process of the gum tissue that is mainly caused by the accumulation of plaque. Cytokines are considered to play a key role in the inflammation process in periodontal disease, and the immune response against inflammatory processes is regulated in part by cytokines. Objectives: The aim of this study was to estimate the levels of interleukin-1beta (IL-1β) in children patients with gingivitis as compared to healthy children. Patients and Methods: Salivary IL-1β levels were investigated in 15 children patients with gingivitis and 15 healthy controls by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Clinical parameters used in this study were plaque index and gingival index.\nResults: The current results revealed that mean salivary level of IL-1β was significantly higher in patients than in healthy controls (p<0.05), in addition salivary IL-1β levels were showed significant positive correlation with each of plaque index and gingival index. Conclusion: The present results suggest that IL-1β may be used as a marker of the degree of inflammation in gingivitis.

Three types of two-term multiple recursive generators (MRGs) are considered in this paper. The adopted performance measures are the upper bound on spectral test, the number of possible vectors of multipliers, and the number of arithmetic operations required. The differences of the adopted performance measures exist among these three types of two-term MRGs. We performed an exhaustive search for a two-term third-order MRG with the objective of maximizing the spectral test performance. The results indicate that these differences can affect the performance of spectral test.

Objective: This study was conducted to determine the relationship between adherence to antihypertensive medication and health literacy in patients with hypertension. Method: The population of this descriptive and cross-sectional study included 407 hypertension patients who had been admitted to internal medicine outpatient clinics. Results: According to the REALM scale, the health literacy levels of the patients were found to be between the grade levels of 4-6 in 46.2%, at the high school level in 18.7%, at the grade 3 level or lower in 15% and between the grade levels of 7-8 in 10.1%. A very poor, statistically significant positive correlation was found between the MASES-SF scale and the REALM scale (p<0.05). Conclusion: Results from this study have shown that the medication adherence of hypertensive patients was low and that there was a very poor positive correlation between medication adherence and health literacy. Practical implications: The findings from this study shall serve as a guide for health care professionals in evaluating the health literacy of hypertension patients and shall help foster positive clinician-patient relationships and thereby improve medication adherence in these patients.

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of motivational interviewing on asthma control, self-efficacy, and quality of life in asthmatic adolescents. This study was conducted experimentally in a model with a pretest to posttest control group. A total of 30 adolescents with asthma attending a university hospital in were randomly assigned to the study group (n=15) and control group (n=15). Three motivational interviewing were performed with adolescents in the study group. It was found that asthma control test, self-efficacy scale and quality of life symptom sub-scale scores of the adolescents in the study group increased significantly after motivational interviewing (p<0.05). It has been determined that motivational interviewing affects adolescents positively in asthma control and self-efficacy. It is recommended that nurses use motivational interviewing in asthma management.

The article deals with spreading of Astragalus species in the mountainous-cserophit flora of the region. These types of species consist of 4 formation classes, 5 classes and 13 assosiations. We have determined that in the mountainous-cserophit flora, (phrigana) zones there are 28 species of (10,77%) bushes, 212 species of (81,54 %) perennial plants, 20 species of (7,69 %) annual or biennal plants within the Astragaletum pycnophyllosum species groups.

Objective: Identify how to approach women victims of violence, as well as to trace the socio-demographic profile of this women victim of violence who are attended by the police station. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional, descriptive, exploratory study with a mixed approach carried out in the municipality of Remígio - PB, extracted from the bulletin of occurrence of the municipal police station, and by semi-structured interviews with the nurses of the Family Health Strategy. Results: Violence affects young women (20-29 years, 33.93%); Single women (48.22%); Victims of physical violence (65.18%); Being the husband the main aggressor (28.58%). Nurses feel difficulties in identifying new cases, which is evidenced in the explanation of the non-knowledge of victims, besides presenting difficulties regarding the care for this public. Conclusions: The occurrence of violence is accentuated in the municipality of collection and there is a shortage of qualified professionals to identify the phenomenon under discussion.

In this paper we investigate the catastrophe effect and feedback strategy in which the repair is assumed in non-truncated single-server queueing situation of transient state solution adding the concept of retention of reneged customers. The probability that there are n customers in the system, the probability of empty system and some measures of effecting of queuing system are obtained using the probability generating function. Some important queueing models are derived as special cases of this system. Some numerical values are given showily the effect of correlation between the probabilities and the additional concepts

The aquatic systems are often the victims of pollution, and it is exposed numerous contamination which generates typically severe damage of the various compartments which constitute them and consequently an influence on public health. This study concerns the analysis of the parameters physico chemicals such as (T°, pH, CE, DBO5, NO-3, NO-2, Cl- a along the Wadi Seybouse which situated in the north east of Algeria. Water withdrawals have been out of an output of this Wadi on a wet period (January 2017), this period shows intense rain and a violent flood of which three important stations have been chosen the latter are Sidi Salem Djoinou and Bouhamra. The result obtained show that the level of the station where the waste waters of the town of Annaba and the industrial discharges of the society of the fertilizers of Algeria (Fertial). With the releases of agricultural products there is an increase in the nitrate and chloride as well as the potential of hydrogen and electrical conductivity and the all these last conduct at the contamination increase of degrees of the water pollution of this Wadi which becomes unusable and which requires biological treatments chemical and physical properties in order to be usable by the public.

The objective of this study is to carry out a social analysis of obesity from the thoughts of Zygmunt Bauman. The analysis of the theme resulted in the thematic axes: Freedom versus Security; Paradox between the power of the media over-consumption and the worship of body image. According to Bauman, the liquidity of the modern era alludes to the property of liquids to conform to the environment. The individuals behave in the same way within society, in which they conform to the standards to be included.

Objective: To determine the average waiting time of patients in the list for bariatric surgery at a referral service in the state of Rio Grande do Norte (RN) and the main causes for their postponement. Method: This is a cross-sectional, descriptive, analytical study with a quantitative, retrospective documental approach involving all patients who underwent bariatric surgery in the last five years. The data will be collected from July to December 2017 at the Onofre Lopes University Hospital of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, located in the city of Natal/RN, located in the Northeastern region of Brazil. Expected results: Through the results of this study, it is expected to the factors influencing the waiting time for bariatric surgery will be identified, as well as contributing to the systematization of the service, favoring a higher resolution and quality of care for this specific population.

This study aimed to analyze the training of health professors about religion and spirituality in diabetes mellitus. This is a descriptive and exploratory study with qualitative approach carried out with 38 professors from the health area, in which the data were obtained and analyzed through the Collective Subject Discourse and frequency counting. A semi-structured interview script was used to obtain the empirical material, from November 2015 to March 2016. The mean age of the sample was 42.8 years old, and female predominance (79%). Regarding the contribution in the graduation: little or no contribution, cultural and religious factors in the training and lack of qualification were mentioned. As for the aspects interfering in the training of professors, the lack of preparation for approaching spiritual issues in diabetes mellitus and lack of personal and professional knowledge were exposed. Benefits of beliefs in the context of health obtained unanimity in the participants, regarding the performance of the health professional in the approach to the spirituality of the diabetic patient. The main limitation for the accomplishment of this study was the unavailability of the time of the professors to answer the instrument of data collection. There is a great deficit in the preparation of health professors to approach non-physical aspects in diabetic patients, religion, and spirituality, requiring the inclusion of these factors in professional qualification, from graduation.

Objective: This study was conducted for the purpose of examining the effect of attitudes toward uncertainty on life satisfaction in women receiving infertility treatment. Method: The cross-sectional study was conducted with 341 women in an in-vitro fertilization center between 15 May and 30 December 2016. The data were obtained using a questionnaire form, Attitudes Toward Uncertainty Scale, and Satisfaction with Life Scale and analyzed by using percentage, mean and standard deviation, t-test, one-way analysis of variance and Pearson correlation analysis. Results: Infertile women obtained a mean score of 48.30±15.55 from the Attitudes Toward Uncertainty Scale and a mean score of 22.71±7.45 from the Satisfaction with Life Scale. Uncertainty attitude levels were found to be higher in infertile women who had less income than expense, had had no child and had received treatment before. Life satisfaction levels were found to be significantly higher in women who had bachelor’s degree, were employed, had social security, and more income than expense. There was a negative correlation between the scores obtained by infertile women from the Attitudes Toward Uncertainty Scale and the Satisfaction with Life Scale. Conclusion: As uncertainty attitude level of infertile women increased, their life satisfaction levels decreased. Bringing a positive viewpoint in infertile women toward uncertainties in the future and strengthening their educational, working and economic levels would make positive contributions to their life satisfaction.

The modern era has been tremendously advancing through rapid advancements and adoption of emerging information and communication technologies. The basic motivation around these advancements and ever developing computing and communication systems are to ensure the catalytic role of the internet and intranet technologies in transforming the institutional work culture. Internet and Intranet have changed the face and lives of people in computing and communication culture and turning them completely into modern and latest lifestyle with its developments. This transformation from traditional to intranet and then cloud enabled intranet (i.e. Intranet ported/shifted over cloud) has dramatically promised new features in computing and communication. Cloud technology is virtualized, off premise rent based service model that ensures promising features like high-end uptime, scalability, availability, reliability, boundary-less accessibility and on demand services over networks ideally via internet. It has been observed that higher educational institutions especially in developing countries like India are still running either first generation (computerized information communication over Desktops) or second generation (automated information communication systems over LANs). They’re still lagging behind in third generation (web enabled/cloud enabled computing and communications systems). This observed knowledge gap is required to be investigate and analyse in general and contextualized in reference to higher educational institutions in India as a case base for next generation paradigm in computing and communication over cloud ported/shifted intranets. This research paper tried to investigate and analyse the factors affecting this contextualized IT systems i.e. intranet ported/ shifted over cloud for various promising factors like cost effectiveness, boundary-less access for the best fit communication and computation. Both qualitative and quantitative research approaches were used through surveys of the various educational institutions and analysed through supportive secondary sources data from related researches. Finally a conceptual shift model has been proposed for educational Intranet ported/shifted over Cloud with promised features like cost effective and boundary-less access in higher educational institutions.

A previous study demonstrated the synergistic effects of the BGFM complex (?-glucan: Folium Mori water = 1:4) in treating hyperglycaemia, complicated hepatopathy and nephropathy caused by streptozotocin (STZ). Using STZ-induced diabetic SD rat model, we aimed to determine the highest dose of combined ?-glucan from BGFM complex (1:4) that can be used in the treatment of diabetes and complicated symptoms. BGFM (1:4) was orally administered once daily for 28 days at 50, 100 and 200 mg/kg with single formula of polycan (sPOL) and FM extract (sFME). The progression of diabetes, significant decrease in body weight, increase in the liver and kidney weight, elevation in blood glucose and serum BUN, creatinine, AST, ALT, LDL, triglyceride, and T-CHOL levels, and decrease in serum HDL levels in vehicle control was compared with those in non-diabetic sham, along with classic histopathological changes related to diabetic nephropathy and hepatopathy. However, a considerable reduction in hyperglycaemia was observed in all dosing groups except sPOL, and the diabetic complications reduced with a decrease in body weight with MPF and SILY compared with vehicle control. In addition, hyperlipidaemia, diabetic nephropathies and hepatopathies reduced significantly in all test groups compared with the control. MPF showed more potency against diabetes and diabetic complications than sPOL and sFME did. Thus, MPF demonstrated synergic effects in diabetic patients in a dose-dependent manner.

Objective: To identify, from the national and international literature, the use of educational technology aimed at promoting the health of the elderly. Methodology: Integrative Review, carried out in January and February 2017. The bibliographic survey was carried out in the databases LILACS, PubMed, EBSCOhost, CROCHANE. It includes manuscripts published in the period from 2011 to 2016; Available in full; In Portuguese, English and Spanish. Results: 113 articles were identified, of which only 9 answered the research question. After analyzing the texts, the findings were grouped into three thematic categories: Social Interaction, Quality of Life, Digital Technology and the elderly. Conclusion: Technologies such as educational strategies can stimulate healthy behaviors through the learning of skills for health care in coping with the health-disease process. Scientific studies are still insufficient to increase knowledge about the advancement of technology and its applicability to the elderly population.

This work presents a 3D modelling study, of the effect of grain size on the electrical parameters of a polycrystalline silicon solar cell maximum electric power, fill factor, conversion efficiency. To study effects of grains size on the performance of the polycrystalline silicon solar, we used in our model variables silicon grain sizes. The taking into account of grain size variation led to the analytical expressions of carrier density, photocurrent, photovoltage and electric power which are function of grain size. In this study, the solar cell was illuminated with an intense light. Then the high photogeneration of carrier in the base of the solar cell base in this kind of illumination allows lead us to take into account the carrier gradient electric field in the base of the solar cell. We studied effects of grain sizes on the J-V characteristic of the solar cell and we calculated the variation of the short circuit current density and the open circuit voltage according to the grain size. We also studied the effect of grain size on the P-V characteristic and we determine the values of maximum electric power Pmax and the solar cell conversion efficiency (?) according to grain size variation. Knowing the short circuit current density, the open circuit voltage and the maximum electric power with regard to grain size variation, we studied also the effect of grain on the fill factor of the solar cell. The results of this study have showed that the maximum electric power, the fill factor and the conversion efficiency of the solar cell increase with the increase of the grain size of polycrystalline silicon cell

Breast cancer is the most common malignant tumor among female in the worldwide. Sann-Joong-Kuey-Jian-Tang (SJKJT) consists of 17 species of medicinal herbs, is a traditional Chinese medicine prescription, and has been used as complementary medication for a number of types of solid cancer in Taiwan. The mTOR is a major component of the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway, disordered mTOR activity is associated with some malignant and resistant cancers. Targeting the mTOR signaling pathway could represent an effective tumor treatment strategy. The development of kinase inhibition studies targeting the PI3K-AKT pathway for breast cancer has become more interest. The present study focused on the cytotoxicity and the effects of SJKJT in the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway in breast cancer, using human breast cancer cells MCF-7 in vitro. The effects of SJKJT on the protein expressions of Vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-1 (VEGFR-1), insulin-like growth factor-I receptor (IGF1R), phosphoinositide-3-kinase, AKT, mTOR and β-actin in the MCF-7 cells were examined by western blot analysis. The results showed that SJKJT can inhibit the proliferation of MCF-7 cells with time and dose dependent. Our research results also showed SJKJT can inhibit the protein expressions of IGF1R, VEGFR-1, PI3K, Akt and mTOR in MCF-7 cells. These findings indicated that SJKJT could inhibit the MCF-7 cells in vitro. One of the molecular mechanisms may be through decreasing the protein expressions of VEGFR-1, and IGF1R, then to block the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway. The use of traditional Chinese medicine prescription SJKJT may become a feasible therapy option.

The high fault tolerance level in multicore processors these days has become a hectic task without worthwhile loss in overall system performance. Transient errors or soft errors are efficiently handled by existing processors, but to handle hard faults the work carried out is notable. Reconfigurable devices in computing are becoming greater significant in embedded computing system. Complex programmable logic devices and Field programmable gate array are used as basic elements in reconfigurable architectures. The most significant issue lies in the design of architectures for multicore processors systems with reconfigurable devices is a major concern. The goal is attain high level fault tolerant self-aware multicore processor, computer with more number of cores. In this paper proposed a hardware reconfigurable unit (HRU) within the core to identify the presence of faults and remain alone with the faults present in functional blocks within a core to be monitored using test bits. The HRU which is inserted in core has functions such as detection, isolation and correction of faults. Once when the faulty block is detected, a slot of HRU is configured by readily available a configuration which performs the replica of faulty unit. The values of the faulty unit present in register are forwarded to configure HRU. The faulty block is separated by testing the core using test patterns that are stored in memory units. Experimental results show the fault isolation is successfully imparted in the module.

The estuary of the river Rancheria is a source of great importance for the municipality of Riohacha, formed by different bodies of water is a dynamic and complex system that caters to both urban centers and rural areas. One of the criteria used for the determination of the quality of the water is the measurement of thermotolerants coliforms (FC), with the objective of studying the temporary space distribution of these elements, water samples are collected in five different areas and analyzes the content of thermotolerants coliforms by the NMP. The sampling is performed every fifteen days, between September 2014 and August 2015, in which there are no statistically significant differences in the content of thermotolerants coliforms between locations, but if you between the times of sampling; the older records are related to the low-lying areas or water travel, as well as in areas closer to urban centers or farm.

Insect pests, rodents, and microorganisms comprise the larger proportion of post-harvest losses. The use of insecticidal/pesticide and insect repellent plants is a deep-rooted tradition and cultural heritage in Ethiopia. This study was conducted to gather information on traditional botanical based pest control practices by farmers of Farta District, northern Ethiopia. The study identified plants traditionally used as pesticides/insecticides during stacking crops at harvest time. The survey showed farmers are using about 31 species of plants as bottom layering during stacking of their crops. These plants are used as pesticides and insecticides although their level of utilization varied. The most used and effective plants species were Croton macrostachyus, Ecucalyptus globules, Calpurnia aurea, Vernonia myriantha and Laggra tomentosa, of which Croton macrostachyus is the most effective. Insecticidal effect of these botanicals was compared to the synthetic insecticide diazinon (0.1%). Twelve hours after application of powders of C. macrostachyus, E. globulus, C. aurea and L. tomentosa the mean mortality rate of termites was equivalent to the mortality caused by diazinon. Further, insecticidal effect of different parts of Croton macrostachyus were compared with the chemical diazinon. Leaves were the most effective. This calls for further identification and adoption of cost effective and environmental friendly indigenous/traditional botanical based pest controlling methods. Also, identifying the bioactive substances is necessary.

In this paper a comparison study has been made between three different layouts for manufacturing self-actuating traction drive speed reducer proposed by Flugrad and Qamhiyah in 2005. The first layout represents the actual process layout used to manufacture that speed reducer by Abu Jadayil and Mohsen in 2010. The second and the third layouts are based on part assignments. The second layout was made so as to minimize the sum of voids and exceptions. Then it is modified to take into account processing times of different parts of that speed reducer. Twenty six parts and ten different manufacturing processes were used in the analysis. A third layout was made for two manufacturing cells only instead of three found as optimum in the second layout. A comparison between the second and the third layout shows that the second layout is the best layout according to minimum sum of voids and exceptions, while the third layout is the best according to maximum sum of processing times inside the formed manufacturing cells.

In this study, a new integrated information system model was designed for use in distributed systems. The model, name as “DataOcean”, was designed in maintains interoperability principles, time-bound, service-oriented architecture with regards to fast, exact, and reliable information access. The DataOcean system was designed adopting SOA (Service Oriented Architecture), OOA (Object Oriented Architecture) architectures, and REST (Representational State Transfer) approach. \nMultiple information systems are integrated via web services, allowing for versatile (multiple) data flow. The system prototype of the DataOcean model also has been developed and implemented. In the system, the visual interface is written to allow the scope of web services to write and execute original SQL, to obtain results between integrated structures to enable analysis. Like instant data access, in the DataOcean integrated information system, update data process can be done within the same accuracy and speed. DataOcean application can create healthy archive data without duplicate records in the long way. \nDataOcean is intended to be used more efficiently in the integration processes of SOA structures and to shorten the software process, presented with intermediate software layer and applied working environment. For spatial data display, Google Earth was used. The web services used in the system are all designed and produced like a real with the exception of the address service content.

Blocking flowshop scheduling problems are frequently encountered in modern manufacturing systems, but related studies are rare in the literature. In this study, the iterated greedy (IG; Ruiz and Stützle, 2007) algorithm is improved and an advanced version (named IG-II) to minimize the makespan in a blocking flowshop is presented. To enhance the performance of the IG algorithm, the proposed IG-II algorithm incorporates three effective operators: parallel solutions, variable length of Tabu list and cooling mechanism. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed IG-II algorithm, a series of computational experiments, comparisons and statistical analyses are conducted on the well-known Taillard benchmark problem instances. The computational results not only show the effectiveness of the individual algorithmic operators, but they also demonstrate the overall performance to be significantly superior to that of the state-of-the-art algorithms on the same benchmark problem instances.

The aim of this study was to analyze masticatory function parameters in patients with complete dentures, registered with the T-scan 8 system (TekSCAN, Inc., Boston, MA, USA). Sixty one patients (40 women and 21 men, aged 59.61±14.20 years) were studied. After articulation of the dentures to bilateral balanced occlusion, a mastication analysis was performed with the T-scan 8 system. The following parameters were analyzed: balance of total force percentage; center of force; occlusion time (OT); force outliers, disocclusion time (DT), and preferred chewing side. The results showed an imbalance in the total force distribution on the view of maximum intercuspation (MIP): 56.09±12.26% for the right and 42.88±13.04% for the left side of dentition; statistically significant relationships between the location of the center of force (COF) and the balance in the two-quadrant (?<0.0001) and four-quadrant (?<0.0001) force views that influence the choice of a chewing side. The relationships between the OT and the center of force (?<0.0001), and the presence of articular imbalances in protrusion (?=0.003), left (?=0.020) and right laterotrusion (?=0.020) were significant. A positive linear correlation was found between the variables OT and DT (?=0.545). For correct interpretation of the data, masticatory function parameters in patients with complete dentures should be discussed in aggregate. The analysis of occlusion-articulation relationships with the T-scan 8 system is a modern method with practical importance in the treatment with complete dentures.

Tanshinone IIA (Tan-IIA, C19H18O3) is one of the diterpine quinones extracted from Salviae miltiorrhizae radix (Danshen). Tan-IIA with antioxidant properties and anti-inflammatory activities can inhibit many human cancer cells through different molecular mechanisms. Transmembrane tyrosine kinases (such as epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), insulin-like growth factor-I receptor (IGF-IR) or vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR)) has been strongly implicated in the survival, proliferation and metastasis of human cancers. Both RAS/RAF/MEK/ERK and phosphoinositide-3-kinase (PI3K)/AKT/ mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathways represent important signal transduction mechanisms that facilitate the proliferation and survival of cancers driven by growth factor receptors, are two of the most frequently dysregulated kinase cascades. Targeting both Pathways for suppressing cancer cells is necessary. Material and methods: In the present study, the triple-negative breast cancer cell line BT-20 cells were treated with Tan-IIA in vitro. The cytotoxicity of Tan-IIA was evaluated by 3 (4, 5?dimethylthiazol?2?y1) 2, 5?diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. The effects of Tan-IIA on the protein expressions of EGFR, IGF-IR, VEGFR, Ras, Raf, MEK, ERK, PI3K, AKT, mTOR and ?-actin in the BT-20 cells were examined by western blot analysis. Results: The results showed that Tan-IIA can inhibit the proliferation of Bt-20 cells with time and dose dependent. The results also showed that Tan-IIA treatment inhibit the activity of the Ras/Raf/MEK/ERK and Ras/PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathways. In addition, the results also showed that Tan-IIA treatment decrease the protein expressions of EGFR, VEGFR and IGF-IR significantly. Conclusions: These findings indicated that one of the molecular mechanisms for Tan-IIA to inhibit BT-20 cells maybe through decreasing the protein expression levels of VEGFR, IGF-IR, EGFR and both Ras/Raf/MEK/ERK and Ras/PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathways. The use of Tan-IIA for breast cancer may become a feasible novel therapy option. Further studies are warranted in the future.

Hence, ice cream is a very popular dessert consumed by large segments of the population especially in summer, Focus on the quality of ice cream products should be given. Contaminated ice cream has a high potential for transmission of pathogenic bacteria. 225 ice cream samples were collected from six districts (Al-Nasiem 1,2,3; Safa 4,56; Al-Gameha 7,8; Al-Hamdania 9,10; Al-Soleimania 11,12,13; Al-Naaiem 14,15) and microbiologically examined for total viable bacterial count, Staphylococci, total and fecal coliform and Salmonella. The samples included five kinds of ice cream flavors (Mango, Strawberry, Vanilla, Chocolate and Blueberry). The results revealed that Salmonella was not detected in any tested ice cream samples. On the other hand, Staphylococci were present in ice cream samples. It is recommended to give more care about heat treatments and good hygienic practices during preparation of ice cream formulas and doing packaging under aseptic conditions. In addition, good storage condition must be offered until selling. Thus, the present study aimed to evaluate the microbiological quality of ice cream samples sold in Jeddah city markets.
