Abstract	This research’s purpose is to identify the various cultural, institutional and economic factors that affect entrepreneurship, highlighting the possible variations of existing effects, when taking into account the motivation to become an entrepreneur (opportunity/necessity) in emerging countries as the Federative Republic of Brazil. For this, a linear regression model was chosen with panel data as a method of data analysis. According to the results, entrepreneurship in Brazil can be better explained by formal economic and institutional factors than by cultural variables. As main conclusions, the discovered results contribute to the literature in contemplating the multidimensionality of entrepreneurship, which, having determinants from different spheres of analysis, invite the research to relate interdisciplinary factors to advance the understanding of this phenomenon. This reinforces the analysis model used with potential application in entrepreneurship policy, including in other countries.
